In spite of many efforts at integrating science and society, a gap remains between citizens, urban actors and policy makers, between knowledge and action, between the pressing realities of the climate crisis and effective climate action. Knowledge emerges through the entangled interactions of citizens, scientists, policymakers, and the very environments we aim to understand. We hope to bring light to these entanglements and understand how to build bridges towards enacting responses to the challenges that citizens and urban practitioners face in our times.

Engaging diverse perspectives from Paris and Barcelona —from community members and citizen scientists to policymakers and climate advocates —we aim to understand and facilitate new knowledge flows. Distilled in a training curriculum, we will equip the urban praxis network with practical know-how on inclusive knowledge production, policy engagement, data storytelling, and advocacy strategies. These tools will help address locally rooted challenges of urban climate action.

The project focuses on tackling three key challenges:

  1. Inclusive Knowledge Generation: Amplifying the insights of those who live and breathe local challenges.

  2. Policy Engagement: Building bridges between grassroots initiatives and policy corridors.

  3. Advocacy Strategies: Equipping communities with the tools to make their voices heard.

P.O.N.T. is a living space for dialogue, learning, and co-creation. From March 2025 until May 2026, we will be organising knowledge exchange visits to Paris and Barcelona, organizing curriculum co-creation activities as well as a 3 day learning festival in Paris.
